Dear friends and followers, welcome back to my channel. Today´s video will be the beginning of a video series about the amazing supersonic commercial airliner CONCORDE.
First and most importantly I want to thank the Brooklands museum, the home of British motorsport and aviation, for inviting me to there fantastic site.
How could I resist in making a video about the airplane that got me all excited about aviation as a little boy?
I want to thank all volunteers at the Brooklands museum for showing around and providing me with access to all their facilities. Therefore I want to donate all the earnings made with the upcoming series to the volunteers at Brooklands. Without your help and work, this marvel of aviation history would otherwise be consigned to the history books.
I hope you enjoy this tour around Concorde and make sure to watch the follow up videos to this series.
Thanks for watching, all the best your "Captain" Joe

Joe, you mentioned that Concorde (note the spelling please people who keep misspelling it ... It's NOT the town in Mass.!) was your boyhood dream but didn't say you'd ever flown on it. If you haven't, my commiserations, my wife and I did back in October 1990! There simply aren't enough superlatives in the English language to describe that bird. The key things that were big takeaways for me were: Smoothness of flight at 60,000 feet Seeing actual curvature of the earth Seeing the ends of the wings glow deep orange as they heated up from supersonic travel Overtaking other passenger planes below, almost TWICE as fast as they were going ... IN THE SAME DIRECTION i.e. almost THREE times their speed (mach 2.2 v mach 0.8!) The DEEP, DARK clear blue of the sky The total non-event of breaking the sound barrier with only the mach meter showing 1.0 then on up to mach 2.2 so smooth it just couldn't be felt. Hopefully those who today have little chance of going supersonic (like my two sons), unless a military fast jet pilot, will get their chance with some of the proposed future supersonic craft ... Well, at LEAST one hopefully. Sadly it is highly unlikely we'll EVER get to see the likes and size of Concorde again though.

Your channel is absolutely fascinating. So glad I discovered it thanks to the KGglobal algorithm. As a Frenchie, the next example of concorde between England and France is the Alpine Formula 1 team as this French team is based in Enstone, UK. Every country on Earth sould look for a concorde, harmony is what we need so we can strive. Thanks for the awesome videos!!!

I was the photographer hired to photograph the Concord's first landing in North America (1975) on her trial runs to Gander Newfoundland (where the increased the runway length to 10,000 feet for these tests). An incredible sight, with a short 2 hour turn-around time, over and over and over. I was sorry to see her stop flying.

Great video Joe! Did that fatal flight in France activate the after burners? Launch of the the Concorde(takeoff) seems way more complicated than any other commercial plane. I am sad that I will never have the chance to experience the Concorde. How long until I can never fly in an A380? Are the existing A380's destined to cargo planes?

So beautiful, like a swan. When I lived in London I used to see Concorde go over, well you would hear it before you saw it. But it was one of the nice features that made it feel like home. The whole thing was a triumph, the design and realisation, and it makes me feel really sad that more were never built. We love you Concorde! ❤️❤️❤️

I used to live overlooking the Thames and Tower Bridge - Concorde used to fly in left to right towards Tower Bridge 17:15 every evening. Also when the Royal Yacht Britannia was stolen from the Queen it sailed past my window on its way to Scotland. Also Peirce Bond sailed past my window too and bits of the London Eye ... many cruise ships too. And of course the Reigny Party the Queen gave was outside my window too. In Cyprus now retired

The Concorde may have been profitable initially but after its initial prestige that could actually fill the plane with willing high class passengers demand fell and of course fuel prices rose dramatically. Also, as the video itself admits the Concorde was profitable for the airlines but not for the government/taxpayers who picked up the development costs.

I've been on the static Concorde at RAF Duxford and I was really surprised at how small she is inside, although very luxurious for the time, by today's First Class cabin areas standards it feels very restrictive and pokey. But, outside standing under her wings, I couldn't believe how big those Rolls Royce Olympus engines are...... they're absolutely enormous. 🇬🇧🇫🇷✌✌

In 1979, after working overseas, on and off, for eight years I was in Paris heading to the USA. I (sadly & briefly) thought about flying back to the USA by Concorde since I was leaving the overseas work. I figured "now or never". Well... it was WAY too much money for me and didn't happen. I think the company provided ticket that I could trade in was about a quarter of the Concore's fare. So it turned out to be never.

My late Father in Law was a Technician on 002 based at Fairford for testing, as a child I would see Concorde 002 flying above not knowing my future FiL was on board. Many years later we still have lots of Concorde memorabilia, photos, world test flight logs, overalls, books, & a signed photo from Mr Trubshaw who was lead test pilot. Without Concorde I would never have met my wife.

Ha ha ha, damn, I am extremely joyful and very happy 😊 that the Concord isn’t operating anymore, because the last time I was checking the meaning of Concord in Arabic, due to a nasty shit that used to be a friend, when he is with me and hears the loud roaring of the Concord flying nearby, keeps on telling me in a pressing and annoying manner “You know that this is the last ever flight of the Concord before it retires”, and looks 👀 at me as if he’s waiting for me to acknowledge something that I didn’t know at that particular period of time, or just let’s call it, a well elapsed era… Yahoo 😂😁😊😉, no more Concords, anyway I know this isn’t rocket science to whoever is reading this comment message, because every nasty shit, is simply a perfect pretender, and knows exactly how to simulate and fake ignorance towards that specific reason, which I know more than very well now 😂😁😉

The airlines did not withdraw their orders because of the cheap, hastily copied and put together piece of crap TU-144 crash. (That this was so dangerous, it only flew passengers for a couple of years before being demoted to mail runs and even then was seen as too dangerous and retired many, many years before Concorde would be) Airlines withdrew their orders for Concorde once ridiculous claims about the effects of the sonic booms forced politicians to lobby for a ban on overland supersonic flights and got it.

The story from the wings is false: the delta wing was invent in GB in 1867, long before the born from aviation...but the french Roland Payen was the first who did made flying delta prototypes in the 30's, and the specific design from the concorde Wing was the wing from the "super Caravelle" project designed from Lucien Servanti and not the wing from th Bristol 223...
